Hey kayaking team!
alright, as you guys know, tomoro, monday the 28th of april will be the first freshmen training.. so all of us have to work together to make it a successful one for us, and an enjoyable one for the juniors!
So basically, this is the "training programme" for the freshmen tomoro...
..and...if its possible, try to make it to the clubroom as early as possible, so we can do some minor planning before the juniors get here. if u can manage it, be at the clubroom at 5pm.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starts at 6:30 due to slowness in juniors
To be conducted together:
Introduction to Warm up (10mins)
4 rounds around stadium (15mins)
Water Break (10mins)
Guys: 3 x 6 pull ups
Girls: 3 x 8 incline pull ups (45mins)

Water breaks (10mins)
Spilt into 8 different groups (A well mixture of girls and guys within a group)
Each group will be attached with at least 2 seniors.

1st game: Icebreakers
Consists of wacko, memory games of names. (10 mins) (All teams playing together) [Choose your own venue]
Newspaper

Activities are to be rotated! Water break accordingly to your group’s status.

2nd game: Telematch between 5 groups. (20 mins) (2groups at once) [Semi circle]
The 1st person will have to run to the stick, turn using the stick for 5 times den run to the bucket filled with water. Using the water to hold on to the cups with holes, fill the cup with water then run to the water bottles, pour the water into the water bottle.

After the whole group finished, we compare the water levels between all the teams. The one with the highest water level in the bottle wins.
2 empty bottles, plastic cups and 2 pails of water

3rd game: Pull the tail game. (15 mins) (2groups at once)[Semi circle]

After 2sets of 15push ups and 30 sit ups (Do it after the last station on the spot itself)

we end it with debrief.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you guys MIGHT want to print that out... so at least u know what's going on, and not be as lost as the juniors.

okay if u guys dont already know, the seniors will continue training during the juniors waterbreak. this is to ensure that our standards dont drop. also, i urge all of you to find time to do self training, find maybe an hour during the day to run or gym.

as u guys know, the first training is important for the freshmen, it could determine whether they stay or leave, so as seniors, we have to show them our discipline, our physical prowess, and of course, our TEAM SPIRIT!

Lets make it a good orientation, TOGETHER, as the NYP KAYAKING TEAM, ALRIGHT!!

(OH, and the dress code is the GREEN JERSEY. for EVERYONE.)

Guys!!!Months of hardcore training just for these 2 days of PA Paddles Championship 2008 is all worth it isn't it!!Everyone did their best and came up with no regrets!!Although some of us came back smiling, while others rowed back with a really sad expression on them, I just wanna say that we did pretty well as a team.

For those who won something, it's good to be happy about it, but always remember, COMPLACENY KILLS THE SPIRIT.Never ever think you're really good when you win something cause it can also mean that your competitors are not strong enough, therefore allowing you to win.At the same time continue pushing yourself and challenge yourself, always aiming for greater heights.

For those who didn't win anything, treat it as a wake up call.As you can see that there are stronger rowers out there, and therefore you really need to put in extra effort to be even stronger than them and beat them the next time you see them.Don't give up on yourself. There are many races and you can always train hard and make sure you do well for the next race.Keep trying and never give up.Remember their names and tell yourself you'll win them the next time!

And these 2 days I can really see the team spirit within us.I have been observing everyone since Saturday.Everyone just did what they can for the team. For Benjamin, without his help in video taking, we would never be able to look at how we row and how we can improvise ourselves.Jocelyn and Huey Yen for helping with the admin stuff, rushing here and there just to help us with the registration and taking down of the timings. And LiLing who keeps helping with the launching of the boats. And everyone in team who helped out in whatever way they can. That's what everyone should be doing for the team. It's always for the team, guys.No amount of help is too little for the team.

Each and everyone of us now is important to the team no matter you're in the committee or not, cause we all belong to this big family. It's only with each and everyone of you that we can row together as a team and compete as a team. For now lets all continue training hard together, sweat and go through shit training side by side. And get better and better after every training!Slowly people are starting to be aware of nyp kayaking team, so lets keep it up guys!!!We'll go through it together!!
AS A TEAM CALLED NYP KAYAKING TEAM!!
